+VIDEO Tamarack Aerospace has received additional EASA and FAA approvals for its ATLAS Active Winglets on the Cessna Citation business jet line.
The new authorisations are for the C525A series, which includes the CJ2 and CJ2+ aircraft. Tamarack already has approvals on the C525 and C525B CJ series.
“This is our second STC approval on the CitationJet series this quarter,” said Nick Guida, founder of Tamarack Aerospace. “It shows how agile the Tamarack team has become in obtaining multiple sequential certifications.
“Regulatory approval of our latest STC amendment for the Citation CJ2 and CJ2+ proves what our existing CJ owners have known since their installs: Active Winglets on the C525 and C525B, and now on the C525A, dramatically enhance the performance of the aircraft. With ATLAS you can climb faster, fly farther and burn less fuel.”
The operational benefits owners will see with a CJ2 Active Winglet equipped aircraft are:
- Range now 1,700nm at Maximum Continuous Thrust with IFR reserve
- Maximum Zero Fuel Weight increase of 400lb on CJ2+ and 800lb on the CJ2
- Direct climb to FL450 in 30 minutes or less
- Increased climb gradients
- Improved single-engine climb performance
- Ride smoothing and stability
- Upgraded LED navigation & anti-collision lighting.
Tamarack’s certified Active Winglets are three to four times more efficient than passive (traditional) winglets. The Active Winglet system typically provides a reduction in fuel burn, performance gains and increased asset value.
The Active Winglet system is comprised of a wing tip extension, a highly tuned winglet, and load alleviation technology. The load alleviation system counteracts gust or manoeuvre wing loading events and eliminates the heavy wing reinforcement and structural additions required by all passive winglets.
