Pilot Training Questions and Answers

I am a 30 year property developer, a good job, but I have a yearning to fly, I think as a career.

Being "over the cadet hill" and with no A levels I think I have ruled any kind of sponsored route out.

Unfortunately I am not super wealthy, though I am quite savvy, and I have been pondering cost effective ways of obtaining the necessary ratings and qualifications.

If I have read your sections correctly, it seems that it is possible to double up on some of the ratings, thus saving money, something the training schools don't appear advertise. So, can I train with a school, but call the shots, telling them how I want my training to progress? Or can I buy a plane and train in that, just paying for instruction, possibly coming to an arrangement with an instructor letting them use the plane to build there hours?

If a plan was in place, what is the most cost effective and quickest way to train!?

I have a Australian, South African and New Zealand PPL. I am spending more and more time in the EU and am thinking of buying and hangaring a plane in Europe. How can i go about converting anyone of the above licenses to enable me to get a EU license.

I currently hold a PPL with just over 60 hours of flying time and am looking to train to be a commercial pilot in the next year. I am a little confused as to what the best options are and whether hour building in the USA or the UK is better. I have been looking at group ownership of an aircraft or buying block hours. Any ideas you have would be helpful.

I am thinking of starting the ppl course and was wondering if you could recomend any where to do it that is FAA and JAA aproved. It is very expensive here (Ireland) and was thinking of going to spain. Any information you have would be very much appreciated.
